Abington Island Grove - American Red Cross Lifeguarding With Waterfront Skills Information

 Course Information:

  • A maximum of six (6) participants may enroll in the course. Enrollment will be based on a first-come first-served basis.

  • Registration must be completed 1 week prior to the beginning of the course (June 28, 2016)

  • The dates of the class are Monday, July 10th - Friday, July 14th. Class times will be 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM daily. These times account for 10 participants in the course, however this class will be limited to 6 participants. Due to this, it is very likely that the course will take less time, and class times may change throughout the course of the week (beginning later, or ending earlier).

  • There will be 2 one hour breaks per day. Breaks may be shortened to 30-45 minutes depending on lesson plan for the day. Students should bring lunch to eat during this time.

  • Successful completion of the course will certify participants in American Red Cross Lifeguarding with Waterfront Skills, and CPR/AED/First Aid for the Professional Rescuer.

  • Failure of the participant to pass the prerequisite will exclude him/her from participating in the course. The refund for prerequisite failure will be $250.

  • If the participant fails to pass the course at the final examination, no refund will be given. However, the instructor may work with individual participants who are struggling and give them extra help depending on scheduling. The goal is to have all participants pass the course, and every effort will be made to help participants achieve that goal if they have made it that far in the class.

  • ***Island Grove facilities may not allow for the last two prerequisite tests to be completed as described by the Red Cross. These tests may be modified or omitted, but the participant should be prepared to complete them as described, especially for future recertification at other facilities.
